Design:

The Zenfone 3s Max comes with an Aluminium unibody and weighs around170 grams. It feels solid in hand & the curved sides give a good grip. As a 5.2 inch device, this device feels good in the hand & the phone doesn’t feel heavy considering that it packs a huge 5000 mAh battery inside & can easily fit in your pocket. The Power & the Volume keys are made of plastic and feel little bit mediocre. However, the Fingerprint Scanner is also protected by Glass.

Display:

The Zenfone 3s Max sports a 5.2 inch IPS Display that has a Resolution of 1280×720 (720P) and an overall Pixel density of 282 ppi.The Display is bright & vibrant. Though it’s a 720P panel, I found that the quality was average & you won’t able to notice if you haven’t used a 1080P panel before. The Display is also quite visible in the bright sun. One of the downsides of the 720p screen is the youtube video playback, it supports only 720p videos. If you can play 1080p video using MX Player.

 Performance:

On the inside, the Zenfone 3S Max packs a MediaTek MT6750 processor with a clock speed of 1.51GHz & a process size of 28 nanometers. The GPU is a Mali-T860 MP2 and comes with 3GB RAM, out of 3GB, you get around 2800 MB free. The phone sometimes feel laggy. In the multitasking department, it performed decently. I opened 5-6 apps at a time & kept switching between them. Almost all apps were in the Memory perfectly & didn’t reload expect 1-2 apps especially Youtube App. It has 32 Gigabytes of Internal Storage out of which you get around 23 GB free. Now, coming to the Gaming Performance, there was minor lag and frame drop in asphalt 8 with high settings but overall the phone performs well.

OS (Operating System):

Zenfone 3S Max runs on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box with Asus own custom UI named Zen UI 3.0. There are a lot of features in the Zen UI. Some of my personal favorites are the Spilt Screen View for Multitasking, Camera App. The Fingerprint Scanner is fast & out 10 times, 7 times it successfully recognizes my fingerprint. Just like the Apple Touch Id, you need to press the home button then it will scan your fingerprint. It is not always active like the Moto or Xiaomi Phones. The speaker on this device is ok not that great.

The Camera:

The Zenfone 3S Max is rocking a 13MP rear camera with f-2.0 aperture. The colors are well balanced & the shots are good but the details are on the softer side. You can also get a good amount of bokeh using Manual Mode. In the front, we have an 8MP shooter with F/2.2 aperture. The selfies came out to be pretty good. Here are some sample shots. The device does get heated up near the Camera while playing games or running benchmarks.

Battery Life:

The main highlight of the Zenfone 3S Max is having a whopping 5,000 mAh Battery. The battery life on this phone is really good. You can easily get 2 days with normal usage. The Charging Time is around 3 hours+ with the stock charger. It supports Reverse Charging at an output of 1A in case you want to charge another phone.
